Lisbon, a city with ups and downs, elevators and beaches, countless blue tessellations and various lovely historical buildings.
Hello Lisbon, nice to meet you. After arriving at the Airport, we take a taxi towards city centre. The streets turn into steep alleyways and it seems impossible to pass them by car. Not for our driver though, he doesn’t even remotely seem impressed with all of these alleys. He carries on with the same speed as before and couldn’t be more relaxed. Next to S. Jorge Castle we exit the car. Just like in Istanbul we are standing slightly lost next to a huge gate – a gate towards a magnificently decorated patio.
The red door is humming and we enter the Palacio Belmonte, our accommodation for the next four nights. The Concierge welcomes us open-heartedly and leads us through the wonderful restored building. Every room hides historical occurrences and exceptional artworks.
When we enter our suite for the night, we know we won’t just be here for sleeping. We are totally amazed by our own rooftop terrace and the incredible view of the town.
After unpacking our suitcases we head out to explore Lisbon. We can reach everything within walking distance and via public elevators we even avoid those infinite stairways.
Within our four days in Lisbon we foud a good balance between sightseeing, the hotel pool and our rooftop terrace. Especially the paradisiac hotel garden with self-grown fruits left a lasting impression on us. Freshly picked oranges and peaches right next to the infinity pool – every day.
Goodbye Lisbon, we hope to see you soon!
