We went through national parks at the back of pick-ups, we took tiny planes from island to island and sailed towards the sunset on little boats. We explored the regions of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao in only twelve days and met so many cool people.
We are at a lonely beach in Bonaire getting ready for our first diving experience in the Caribbean. After a few steps in the clear warm water a turtle swims along our feet. Diving into the water we are fascinated by the variety of colourful fish and the endless coral reefs. Filming the stressless underwater life and the peaceful moves of the giant turtle calmes me down immediately.
After stowing away our diving equipment at the back of our pick-up, we are on the way to a national park. At the side of the road we pass along graceful looking flamingos, huge lizards and many thorny cactuses. Noel and I are enjoying the sunny ride at the back of our truck feeling the warm breeze getting our minds free for some moments.
Getting further into the nature, we pass by enchanted bays surroundedd by crystal clear water. The sand is even whiter than one could imagine and the ground of the seabed is visible everywhere. I capture Noel refreshing himself with a cliff jump at one of the stunning bays during a short break.
Meeting some locals we quickly understand the reasons why the Caribbeans are so laid back. It is facinating to see how people just do not stress. Luckily we are in Aruba during the national holiday and get the opportunity to portrait some of the most unique characters.
We are frankly welcomed and get invited to play domino with some old men at the side of the road. Everybody is drinking beer to celebrate the independence of the Netherlands. Just in time to shoot the sunset we arrive at a secluded beach.
Those small moments are the reason for me travelling so much. You get to meet and experience special people and new cultures. I believe that travelling like that gives me nothing but the real impressions and gets me as close to the locals as possible.SEE MORE PICTURES
